"Unkaku" - by Marukyu Koyamaen
"Ujicha" is the star of the Matcha category with its dominance in the National Tea Competition. This "Unkaku" is a highly recommended Matcha powder especially for "pure Matcha" drinkers. If you're a beginner, and would like to try preparing Matcha with just hot water, your choice of Matcha powder is integral. This Unkaku is an extremely rich Matcha with a really pure genuine Matcha taste, perfect for Usucha (Thin) or Koicha (Thick) preparation. If you choose to mix the Unkaku in a latte, you'll be impressed by the outcome. It will add the great rich mild Matcha flavour into your drink. While this Matcha also works for cooking, it may be an overkill. We recommend Aoarashi for culinary purposes.
Gyokuro Tea by Taniguchien
The Gyokuro is another strong cateogry which the "Ujicha" has. Taniguchien's Gyokuro works as a fantastic introduction to the "shaded" Japanese loose leaf green tea, and it's the one we first recommend if you're new in this area. It gives a great umami and also adds the signature nori-like aroma which is also referred to as the "Ooika". The quality of the leaves are so high that you can eat the leaves directly, and it's actually quite delicous!
