What is Matcha?
Matcha is not just powdered green tea. It's a special type of powdered green tea made from tea leaves that are shaded from the sun for a period of three to four weeks before harvesting. It's a challenge to produce this even for the experienced tea farms in Japan - but this gives Matcha the rich umami and the fantastic aroma that is captivating everyone around the world.

Matcha is the ultimate natural elixir. The health benefits of this drink is unparalleled, as it allows for direct consumption of the Catechin and Amino Acid-rich tea leaves. We've handpicked some of the best Matcha from Japan. Our tea is guaranteed - true Matcha by the proper definition - which is actually difficult to differentiate these days. Give it a try, and surely you'll be amazed!

"Unkaku" - by Marukyu Koyamaen
The "Unkaku" is a highly recommended Matcha powder especially for "pure Matcha" drinkers. If you're a beginner, and would like to try preparing Matcha with just hot water, your choice of Matcha powder is integral. This Unkaku is an extremely rich Matcha with a really pure genuine Matcha taste, perfect for Usucha (Thin) or Koicha (Thick) preparation. If you choose to mix the Unkaku in a latte, you'll be impressed by the outcome. It will add the great rich mild Matcha flavour into your drink. While this Matcha also works for cooking, it may be an overkill. We recommend Aoarashi for culinary purposes.
"Aoarashi" - by Marukyu Koyamaen
The "Aoarashi" is an entry level ceremonial grade Matcha of excellent quality. While this is a good Matcha to drink as Usucha (Thin) tea, it is also exceptional for Culinary purposes. Whether it be Matcha cakes or Matcha jelly, using Aoarashi will really infuse a rich genuine Matcha flavour into your desert. If you like using Matcha in your cooking but can't seem to reach that richness you've hoped, I would recommend trying Aoarashi out. Please note that Aoarashi's grade is not high enough for Koicha (Thick tea) preparation - while a fantastic product, it is still an entry-level grade tea.
