The Tsubokiri Matcha is a seasonal Matcha that only sells from Autum to early Winter. We will carry this from late September until roughly around November while the stocks last.
It's meant to celebrate the Japanese tradition of resting first flush tea leaves in a pot for roughly five months after harvesting, and then opening them to make Matcha around November. The "Tsubokiri" means "Opening the pot" where the Tencha leaves (Matcha before they are ground to powder) rest. This process increases the umami, sweetness, and the aroma of the Matcha.
It's the perfect way to celebrate the autum season and the taste of the newly produced tea of that year.
The Tsubokiri-Matcha is stone-ground and is slowly milled to perfection.

Instructions
Usucha Matcha Preparation
- Matcha Powder: 1.5g - 2.0g of Matcha powder for 60-70 ml of water.
- Water Temperature: 75°-85° Celsius
- Steps: Add powder into a Matcha bowl, add water, and mix using a bamboo whisk (Chasen)
- Tips: Pre-sift the powder with a tea sifter for a smooth Matcha
Storage Instructions
- Keep it away from heat, sunlight, and humidity as much as possible. Keep it sealed to prevent air and other smells from affecting the tea.
